Sewing room notes
Heavy cycle days and sleeping
The heaviest days of a cycle ask for different fabric coverage than lighter mornings. When you lie down, gravity moves fluid along different paths than when you stand. We cut our Absorbent line with those long hours in mind.
Why the back panel runs high
Our Absorbent pairs carry a wider lined gusset than our Leakproof line. In the back, that built-in panel extends well up toward the waistband rather than stopping at the base of the seat. That extra length is there for sleep. When you rest on your back, fluid travels rearward along the fabric.
A short gusset leaves bare jersey right where resting fluid settles. By running the lined core higher, the garment stays under you while you toss or turn. It is a straightforward physical barrier sewn right into the seam lines. Fluid stays inside the designated textile layers rather than meeting unlined bamboo cloth.
Seat coverage and higher rises
Cuts like our high-waist panty and classic brief are the usual choices for bedtime. Low-slung waistbands can shift down when you curl on your side. A higher rise anchors at the waist and stays put against the small of your back.
Full seat coverage matters just as much. Boy shorts and briefs wrap the lower curve of the body without riding up into narrow channels. If a garment creeps inward during the night, the protective width narrows with it. Full coverage keeps the absorbent layers wide and flat against your skin from lights out until morning.
Building a heavy day rotation
Most people wash their pairs together after a full cycle rather than laundering daily. For a stretch of two or three heavy days and nights, that means keeping six or eight pairs on hand. Two pairs for daylight hours and one fresh pair for bed is a common rhythm.
Some people wear our Absorbent briefs alone on heavy days, while others use them alongside cups, sponges, or tampons as extra backup. Every body flows at its own pace. If your flow feels unusually sudden or heavy, a doctor or midwife is the right person to speak with.
